Census Entries
These entries are the residences of the Blacksmiths, so if they are employed then it is unlikely that this is the location of the forge, unless perhaps working for his father.
Some individuals appear in more than one census return, e.g. John Harris (1891, 1901, 1911).
John Harris
John was born on 23rd July 1854 in Kettering, the second child of William and Jane Harris, a blacksmith.
In 1861 and 1871 they lived in Warkton, with John working with his father in 1871 and learning the blacksmith trade.
John married Caroline Alma Taylor in Warkton Church on 28th January 1876. They lived in Barton Seagrave in 1881 and 1891, where John was working as a master blacksmith.
Between 1901 and 1911 they lived at 55 Midland Road, Thrapston where he ran his own forge. His son, Charles Alwyn, was also a blacksmith working for Smith & Grace.
John died in Thrapston on 12th February 1915 and was buried in Plot 92 in Oundle Road Cemetery. Caroline died on 29th January 1925 and was buried alongside him.
