William Henry Goss (1833 – 1906)
During the 1880’s the pottery firm of W. H. Goss of Stoke-on-Trent produced a new line of miniature souvenir wear for Queen Victoria’s jubilees and for pupils of public schools, which proved very popular.
The firm’s speciality was to make miniatures of famous antiquities from museums around the country and applying transfer decorations of coats of arms for sale as a memento.
A basic model was made and sold unfinished.
The buyer then applied a transfer with the local crest , added decoration, glazes and then fired it.
