I used to collect pulleys from Smith & Grace on behalf of Fenners. I always looked forward to going there as it was such a fascinating, unmodernised place. I just wish I’d taken my camera.
I am thrilled to have found these web pages on Smith & Grace Screw Boss Pulley Co of Thrapston. Val Riches, an avid historian regarding the Smith family and Smith & Grace, is my cousin.
My father was Edwin Frank Crawford Smith (known at Smith & Grace as Mr. Crawford).
Unfortunately, I do not have any memorabilia relating to Smith & Grace, just a strong interest in the history of the company. I used to say to my father and my brother, Mr. Stephen, that when the business closed, they should make it into a museum — but sadly that was not to be.
